5/9/2023 0 Comments Persona 5 royal endingsUnlike the massive amount of time players got to clear objectives in Persona 3 or 4, Persona 5 is much more frantic and you are constantly racing the clock. The game has dungeon crawling mechanics similar to Diablo, and there is no procedural level generation involved. ![]() Persona 5 is stylish in every way but it does not put a façade on what’s inside Players who tried out Persona 3 or 4 before hopping on to Persona 5 will find themselves right at home. The turn-based combat is similar to older Final Fantasy titles the art style is similar to what you would find in anime, but the color palette is striking. In fact, the game was actually inspired by other popular titles as well as the work by Carl Jung, who is a famous psychiatrist and psychoanalyst based in Switzerland. The popular RPG by Atlus is by no means groundbreaking or an innovative title with new mechanics that have never been seen before. On the one hand, we have games like Assassin’s Creed and Far Cry with one sequel after another and very little to offer when it comes to innovation, Persona 5 offers something truly unique over its predecessor. Persona 5 was first announced in 2014, and it took three years until it finally came out. Even if you beat the shadow that appears at the start of the game, you can’t escape, and you end up in police custody and thus begins our protagonist’s tale. Those who are capable of harnessing the power of Shadows are known as Persona-users. Shadows are created from the lower parts of the human psyche which contain suppressed thoughts. This is where you are introduced to Shadows for the first time. I dunno why, game is so much better with Royal content that you'd think that shit shouldn't be missable at all.As soon as you start a new game, the player has to infiltrate a casino with other main characters of the game who are known as Phantom Thieves With the police surrounding you, your only option is to escape from the ceiling. Sorry for the all caps but that shit is important BC there are three confidants you must reach a certain level with, in addition to three or four specific dialog choices that MUST be chosen, that serve as prerequisites for the new content. YOU DO NOT WANT TO WASTE YOUR TIME BY BEATING THE WHOLE OG GAME AND THEN REALIZING YOU CAN'T ENGAGE WITH THE NEW STUFF. LOOK UP THE PREREQUISITES FOR UNLOCKING THE THIRD SIMESTER. It's literally a Persona 5 sequel in all but name, and if I beat Persona 5 several years ago (as opposed to several months ago, as I did) then I'd probably have skipped straight to Strikers myself. If you're not down for that, maybe just YouTube a synopsis of the Royal content (if you feel like it cus none of it is relevant to Strikers), and then go straight to Strikers. That one palace with the fucking difficult end boss is even harder now IIRC but it's a lot easier to power up in prep for it. A couple of palaces have minor to moderate tweaks, and new music. Mementos has new music the deeper you go. If you're down for 120-200 hours of more Persona 5, then do it. Also, I'm of the opinion that the extra content recontextualizes the game's plot and many character relationships in a very satisfying way - I'd have been a bit disappointed in the games ending if it ended where the OG had, VS the brilliant new ending chapters that Royal introduced. If you're a big fan of 5's music and game play loop then you'll find the experience holds up and has improved pretty substantially. You may not even need that if you know what you're doing, because Royal gives you many more in-game time slots to work with. Top rated guide on the Game Faqs page fwiw. I platinumed Royal on my first playthrough by loosely following a guide that planned out many days for me, prioritizing early SP-healing accessories and certain battle boosts (aka Death & Darts), then going for full confidant completion. Shit I probably could have ended that sentence after the word 'tedious'. ![]() I will say this - Royal is infinitely easier (and a lot more fun, less tedious) to min max. Well, Royal is still worth it, but you may want to consider whether or not you might burn out playing through the same game a third time. If you already played and enjoyed the original.
